Health & Well-Being

  • Dougy Center, the first place of its kind in the country, has been helping grieving children in Portland since 1982. It supports more than 2,500 children, teens and caregivers a year, and none of it costs a family anything.1, 2

  • Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in adults under 50, and three out of four of those cases are caught late. Screening is meant to start at 45, but only 37 percent of people aged 45 to 49 have had it. The Alliance works on both: getting people screened on time, and standing beside the ones already diagnosed.1, 2

Justice, Rights & Democracy

  • DNA testing has helped clear more than 600 wrongly convicted people since 1989, over 200 of them Innocence Project clients. The Project takes those cases on and pays for the testing itself, work that runs for years and costs far more than a prisoner could ever raise.1

$75

Economic Opportunity, Mobility & Security

  • Homelessness hit a record 771,480 people in 2024, and Community Solutions’ analysis showed the count finally leveling off the year after. They help more than 160 towns and cities keep a list of every homeless person by name, updated monthly, because you cannot fix a problem you cannot count.1

$55

Education, Knowledge & Culture

  • The share of students missing a tenth or more of the school year nearly doubled between 2018 and 2022, to 28 percent. Communities in Schools puts a coordinator inside the school whose whole job is to find out why one particular child keeps missing school, and then do something about it.1, 2

$51

Environmental Sustainability & Animal Welfare

  • In 2026 Oregon raised its hotel lodging tax by just over one percent, which puts about $38 million a year into fish, wildlife and habitat. Money like that only appears when someone is at the state capitol asking for it, and that is what the Coalition does for the local nonprofits that protect land.1
